Rapper Busta Rhymes has been fined $100,000 after being found liable for a September 2005 fight with a fan. Fan Melvin Smith claimed the rapper, born Trevor Smith, and his bodyguard Troy Green attacked him after he attempted to get an autograph outside a New York City deli. Smith said he received four stitches to a wound above his eye following the alleged attack.
Last month (Dec 06), a Manhattan Supreme Court judge found Rhymes and Green civilly libel for the injuries, but the rapper was not prosecuted. He also stands accused of assaulting another fan on Randall's Island, New York, in August (06).
Hundreds of dancers turned up at a Houston audition on Saturday, trying out for a part in Beyoncé's world tour. Thirty semifinalists were selected from the Houston auditions and will face off with selected dancers from four other cities — earlier auditions were held in Los Angeles and Atlanta last month, with tryouts in New York (1/11 and 1/12) and Chicago (January 27) to come. Once all tryouts are complete, Beyoncé and choreographer Frank Gaston will review the tapes and narrow the field to 40 dancers who will accompany the singer on tour.
