CEO of Vibe Media Group, Steve Aaron, has announced that Vibe Vixen, the female counterpart to urban music & lifestyle magazine, Vibe, will cease publication as of next month. The announcement, which comes just two weeks after Aaron took office, repositions Vibe Vixen for only special issues. The new format will focus on specific urban culture themes slated to begin in the fourth quarter, and while the frequency of the special issues has yet to be determined, it has been confirmed that Vixen will still maintain its website. Vibe Vixen was originally launched in February 2005 coming out twice a year. The frequency was upped to six times annually earlier this year. Rihanna appears on the cover model for the final issue.
Comedian Dave Chappelle will serve as an executive producer for an upcoming concert film titled "Allah Made Me Funny-The Official Muslim Comedy Tour." The film will focus on three of America's top Muslim comics, Preacher Moss, Azhar Usman and Mohammed Amer, as they give light hearted live stand-up performances addressing negative stereotypes about the Muslim religion and culture in a post-9/11 world. "Allah Made Me Funny is one of the funniest and most important comedy shows in America today," Chappelle, who converted to Islam several years ago, said via a statement. "These guys are pioneers in the world of Muslim comedy and I am proud to be attached to this project."
