07.06.09 ---- While celebrity lines by Jennifer Lopez and MTV’S Lauren Conrad have fizzled lately, Beyoncé and Tina Knowles’ fashion endeavor Deréon, which began in 2005, continues to grow with the edgier “Sasha Fierce” collection.
"The line really exudes a different side of my personality, which I am grateful that I can express," Beyoncé said, adding that the line is for "the confident, sensual and daring side of a woman ... and there is a little Sasha Fierce in every girl!"
Only one diva can call herself Sasha Fierce, but starting this fall, we can all dress like the stylish songstress. Beyoncé and mom Tina Knowles are launching a junior clothing line named after the singer’s alter ego.
Based on the look of Beyoncé’s current tour, the mother-daughter-designed collection includes sportswear, outerwear, handbags, jewelry, footwear, eyewear and lingerie, and wholesales for $25 to $75. Meant to accompany their already established Deréon junior label, “the line really exudes a different side of my personality, which I am grateful that I can express,” Beyoncé said in a statement. Macy’s, Dillard’s, Jimmy Jazz, and Against All Odds have already signed on to carry the collection.
So what exactly can we expect from line? From the sounds of it, accessories are the stars of this show. Clothing items like black bodysuits and one-shoulder dresses were made a bit more subdued to allow bling, like large mixed metal chains and oversized glasses, to shine. Though the collection hits stores just in time for back-to-school shopping, I have a feeling Sasha Fierce’s look is more suited to the dance floor instead of the classroom.
