2009: DIDDY

“It's my house, and I'm allowed to give my house to whoever I want to give my house to."  -- Diddy on allowing Chris Brown and Rihanna to hideaway at his home.

This guy hasn’t dropped a note-worthy hit in a minute but he’s the certified hustle-man of the year.  If he’s not pushing clothes, liquor and cologne he’s breaking the hearts of young, impressionable – but talented – kids on the MTV hit “Making the Band.”  He stays on the grind and he becomes relevant in the most unrelated scenarios.

2009 Highlights:   The beginning of the year found Diddy hosting the premiere of the “Notorious” film.  The only person missing that night in New York was Biggie himself. Walking down the aisle in the main theater of the AMC Lincoln Square was almost like going to an award show - Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, DJ Clue, Ciara, Jadakiss, Mary J. Blige, Russell Simmons, Faith Evans, members of the Junior M.A.F.I.A.

He then found himself in the middle of the most unrelated breakup of the year – Chrihanna.  Heads rolled when just three weeks after their alleged altercation he lent the two his house to sort of their domestic and media mess.  It's my house, and I'm allowed to give my house to whoever I want to give my house to," he said to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres who was brave enough to go there. "I don't cast a stone, cast judgment on anybody. So if friends ask me for a favor, then I'm going to be there for a favor as long as I know the energy of the favor is positive."

Later teeney-boppers’ heart sank when he dismembered making the band and stole Dawn Richards to make up 1/3 of his team to complete his 2010 album Last Train to Paris.  Slated to be “some back-in-the-day Loose Ends-type sh--,”  Diddy couldn’t resist making a dollar off his studio journey via the show "Making His Band." The verdict’s still out on his new “—ish.”

And oh it looks like Jay-Z has company when it comes to being old.  Sean turned 40 himself.   Only Diddy could host a party that included Martha Steward and Rick Ross under the same roof.

The year also found Diddy presented with a wax image in the Madame Tussauds’ Museum and knocking the socks off the Home Shopping Network with his entire scent collection sold out in the 15 minutes following his appearance, setting a new sales record.

Next year only presents new opportunities for the mogul.
