TED ENTERS REHAB

1.12.11  --   Oh Ted…..So the homeless man with the golden voice is on his way to rehab after confessing to Dr. Phil that he's been drinking in the midst of his newfound stardom.

Ted Williams agreed to enter a treatment for drug and alcohol dependency during a lengthy and televised on-on-one conversation with Dr. Phil.

Adding fuel to the fire is 29-year-old daughter, Janey Williams, claims her dad's been drinking "at least a bottle of Grey Goose a night."

"That's not including the Coronas he ordered, that's not including the Budweisers he ordered, the other alcohol, the wines. He drinks heavily," she told "Entertainment Tonight."

Family members told Dr. Phil the recovering addict's sudden celebrity thrust him back into substance abuse, which led to a physical altercation with his daughter that landed them in the hands of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Ted, 53, became a star last week when an Ohio newspaper posted a video of the once-successful radio man panhandling on the side of the road.

He was quickly offered an announcer job with the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team and taped a commercial for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. The talk show circuit landed him in California this week to appear on "Entertainment Tonight" and "Dr. Phil."

"If Ted is ever going to get better, he's got to be honest with himself and admit he's addicted to drugs and alcohol," Dr. Phil said in a statement.

"Everyone is pulling for Ted, but his 15 minutes are going to be over and then he'll be left to manage a life filled with temptation," he said.
