Rapper DMX has turned down a plea bargain that would have ended his traffic case in White Plains, N.Y., after receiving what he feels is unfair treatment.
"I don't feel good about this at all," said DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, after his case was adjourned until Aug. 25. "It's not fair -- $25,000 for traffic tickets? Come on. Let's keep it real," New York's White Plains Journal reported Tuesday.
Simmons was referring to the bail set by City Court Judge Barbara Leak that led to Simmons spending the night in a cell at the Westchester County Jail on June 30, after he failed to appear for previous court dates.
Simmons was charged with a misdemeanor, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, after being pulled over June 2 for alleged speeding.
If convicted, Simmons could be sentenced to 180 days in jail.
In addition to the White Plains case, Simmons will be in Harrison Town Court on Aug. 29, where he's pleaded innocent to driving on the shoulder of the road to avoid a traffic jam.
