Looks like 50 doing a full out branding campaign. Not only is he releasing an album on the 16th, but he has a new fragrance launching this week – Power by 50 Cent. The new ad for the cologne finds 50 bare-chested and tattooless....(raised eyebrow).
“For me, power isn’t just something you learn on the street or in the boardroom — it’s a way of life,” says the rags-to-riches multiplatinum star.
So just what does Power smell like? The masculine fragrance mixes notes like lemon leaves, black pepper, coriander and nutmeg—which all adds up, according to 50, to a whiff of success. “I really wanted to bottle up the rush it gives you so my fans can make it a part of their lifestyle,” he explains in a release.
His inspiration for the new scent includes fragrances by Ralph Lauren and Creed. And like these scents, he really wanted his fragrance to have an original beat. Regarding the name, "For me power isn't just something you learn on the street or in the boardroom--it's a way of life. I really wanted to bottle up the rush it gives you so my fans can make it a part of their lifestyle."
Power by Fifty Cent launches exclusively at Macy’s Nov. 5, with prices ranging from $50.50 (for a 1.7 oz. eau de toilette) to $68.50 (for a two-piece gift set of eau de toilette and after shave). And yes, the 50 cents is in there. Check it out.
In other 50 Cent news, the rapper just debuted the video for his single, “Baby By Me” Monday (Nov 2) directed by Chris Robinson featuring Kelly Rowland.
"I ran into Kelly at the Latin VMAs, which I attended to perform with Wisin and Yandel, and I asked her if she would consider doing it," 50 explains. "You can't forget all the work she did with Destiny's Child. The difference between Kelly and Beyonce is the extreme focus they put on Beyonce to make sure she was completely right. Kelly wasn't held in the same regard, so, in order for her to mean anything to America, they'd have to match the marketing dollars spent on Beyonce. She never received the superstar treatment."
Does anyone else think the Kelly Rowland selection is really a little dig at Jay-Z? 50 appeared on Philadelphia’s Power 99FM to back estranged Roc artist Beanie Sigel in his feud with Jay-Z.
“He [Beanie Sigel] would have got at least $800,000 at that point to come over,” 50 Cent told radio personality Miss Jones Monday. “Jay was telling him that he didn’t want to lose him. I think Jay and Puffy had these feelings toward me at one point I believe.”
I’m just saying……"Before I Self Destruct" is due Nov. 16 on G-Unit/Shady Records/Aftermath/Interscope.
